About
I like simple things. I believe you can make everything fun and worth your while. I love my work, and I love people. I am an educator. I sometimes have more to say than I should. Sometimes I actually do say more than I should…but I am human and know my limitations. And talking too much might just be one one them.
I am not a morning person, but I love mornings. The smell of fresh coffee and the ocean breeze get me out of my head and into a perfect world. I like it there, and try to stay that happy all day. I like my life just as I take my coffee, strong, bold, fragrant, with just enough cream to seem french, a little sugar to sweeten the blow, and with a thousand expresso kicks in every sip. I am a perpetuum mobile, although sometimes I feel like the rabbit form Alice in Wonderland…can’t stop, can’t stop, so late for the next thing!
I do get to say my piece in passing though…And that’s sometimes good.

Congratulations. Several years ago I tried to show my students at Columbia University School of Social Work the value of virtual reality. I was running a support group for people who self identified as autistic on Second Life. It was around the time CCSI did a segment about a murder connected with a virtual reality. You would have thought I was taking my students to Hades. All I planned to do was have a group of people I had met on Second Life talk about their experiences and have a few brave students in the class be at that symposium in Second Life while the rest of the class watch. My boss insisted the class be made voluntary. About ten students cut; the rest said it was the most amazing experience of their graduate years. I retired three years ago and recently that boss mentioned how her boss wanted virtual realities explored and thanks to me she knew about Second Life. Sad it takes so long. I have been geeky for forty years, it has been a saving grace for me. Keep saying your piece, peace.
THANK YOU! There is hope, then. The sad part of it is that a lot of people want to explore, but they don’t dare to, because of what might be said about them in their circles…like that matters in the long run. Your words are so encouraging! I hope you’ll be willing to share a little of your knowledge with us – most of my kids have not heard of virtual reality per se, such as Second life. It will be mind blowing for them! And eye opening for all of us on campus.
